Flat Tire Defender Inserts
FTD Off-road Motorcycle Inserts' unique "multiple piece" design
can be used in a wide range of tire sizes and tire brands. They are designed to replace the inner-tube and no air is used. Besides never having to worry about getting a flat tire again, the major advantage of Flat Tire Defender over competitors' products are:
- Lower price point
- Longer shelf life
- Light weight to reduce unsprung wheel weight
- Adjustability in tire stiffness to improve ride comfort and traction
- Sized to fit numerous tire sizes and tire brands
Tested and Race Proven:
FTD Inserts have gone through durability and race testing during 2009 and 2010 seasons with great results. In fact, some of our test riders have used the same sets of FTDs for over 30hrs in competition.
Everyone rides in different terrain with different ability levels so there is no way to determine how long FTDs will last for each rider, just like there is no way to determine how long a particular tire will wear for them. But over the last two seasons we have tested and fine-tuned the materials that go into FTDs to get the best ride quality and durability we can offer.
Adjustability:
FTD recommends a specific number of inserts based on our
testing in a wide range of tire sizes and tire brands. Those looking to fine-tune their tire performance to a specific ride quality, tire feel, traction level or terrain can simply add or subtract FTD inserts. And if the inserts begin to feel soft you can add another piece or two and maintain the tire feel you like. Never before have you been able to adjust the ride quality and traction level of your tires without having to worry about getting a flat.
FTD Material and Lubrication Info:
FTD inserts are made of closed cell, high impact and high density foam/rubber polymers to provide the load carrying capacity and compression-rebound characteristics required for off-road riding. It is important to understand that foam, when used inside tires, creates friction while riding which creates heat. If the FTDs are not lubricated properly during installation, the heat buildup in the tire will cause the FTDs to break down quickly, reduce load carrying performance and feel very soft. To achieve the highest performance, it is necessary to lubricate the inside of the tire and each FTD insert thoroughly. FTD recommends that the tire be unmounted and tire & inserts be re-lubed after every 2-3 rides.
